Vidhi Parivartan is a legal platform that seeks to hone the skill sets of all the budding lawyers, aid the law students in all possible manner by optimum utilization of resources available at their disposal and thereby empower the legal fraternity eventually. ABOUT THE WEBINAR

The criminal trial procedure in India is essentially governed by the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, along with being complemented by the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Indian Evidence Act, 1872. This procedure is a collection of evidence, witness examination, accused interrogation, arrest, bail, and other procedures required to be adopted by the police and the courts. There exist different types of criminal trials with different stages instituted, and it becomes important to understand them in detail to gain a better understanding of criminal law in India, and what better way to learn than learn about the concepts from the expert himself.

GUEST SPEAKER

Justice Subodh Kumar Gunvantlal Shah, Retired Judge, Gujarat High Court

He enrolled as an Advocate in the month of December 1981 at Mehsana, Gujarat and continued his practice as an Advocate until February 1997. During this period, he practiced almost on all sides like Civil, Constitutional, Revenue, etc., in various Courts, Tribunals and Commissions.

In March 1997, he was directly appointed as a Judge of the City Civil & Sessions Court, Ahmadabad by invitation. He was sent to the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India for Classification of Cases of Supreme Court in May 1997. In 2006, he was appointed as Registrar (Courts &Computers), Supreme Court of India on deputation. He was also appointed as Special Judge, CBI Court, Ahmedabad.

He was appointed as Member of the Standing Committee of the Supreme Court of India for monitoring E-Committee for computerization of entire judiciary in the country, and he developed e-court for the first time in India. He was elevated as Additional Judge, Gujarat High Court in November 2012 and confirmed as Permanent Judge in July 2014. As Judge of the High Court of Gujarat, he dealt with almost all subjects and delivered approximately 19832 judgments in 1260 days.
